Frequently asked questions
Products
It depends.
Most of the fabrics and finishes we use for the actual shoe are developed and produced by Schoeller. All their products are BlueSign® approved, meaning that everyone in the whole production chain can work in safe and healthy working conditions and that the resources are as environmentally friendly as possible.
These are the fabrics and finishes we use the most, and the possible ingredients shown on the Schoeller website:
The high gloss shoes are polyurethane.
All shoe laces are polyester.
The Eco-OrthoLite® insoles are partly made of biodegradable polyurethane from castor oil, and partly from recycled polyurethane.
The soles of our safety shoes, hiking shoes, London Walkers and sneakers are made of RPU, a hardwearing patented form of polyurethane. The manufacturer is Stemma from Italy.
Our London Walkers have a so-called Energy Gel® pad in their soles, reducing the shock from your foot coming down and lifting your foot a bit extra as you raise it. These pads are made by Arbesko from Sweden. The materials they use are TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) and TR, a synthetic kind of rubber.
The Grip+ soles are made by Solepex from Finland. They combine different kinds of rubber and polyurethane (RPU and TPU) in order to get a sole with maximum grip.
* an aramid (aramids are a group of polymers) patented by DuPont
** group of nylon based fabrics, patented by INVISTA

Yes. We do not use tanning agents. Many people are allergic to the chrome in it. Our shoes do not contain chrome. However, many people who are allergic to chrome are also allergic to modern glues. We use these glues because they are animal friendly, but with some people they can cause an allergic reaction.
Our shoes are made of high tech synthetic fabrics. This means that by default they are not organic. We chose to do this because it would increase the quality of our shoes in such a manner that they would have all the benefits of leather, while they would last longer.
We do our utmost best to make sure the impact on the environment is brought to a minimum, that every worker in the process can work in safe and healthy working conditions, that they are paid fairly and that there are no children involved. Most of the fabrics we use come from Schoeller from Switzerland. Their brand is BlueSign® approved. BlueSign® is the most stringent certification mark there is when it comes to both the environment and the treatment of the workers. Contrary to other certification marks, they keep an eye on the whole process. That way you can be sure that the resources are as sustainable as possible, that toxics are actively being avoided (or, when absolutely necessary, are kept to an absolute minimum) and that neither the environment, nor the workers or the surrounding communities will suffer from the use of these toxics.
The shoes themselves are either made in Portugal or in Indonesia. The factory in Portugal obviously sticks to the European labour laws and standards. The factory in Indonesia, Mangul Jaya, is not just any Indonesian factory. Most employees have been working there for over 20 years. They are paid well enough to feed and support their families and everyone is allowed to follow their religion. The factory even has a mosque inside.

* We send the shoes to you free of charge. If you want to exchange or return them, you have to pay the return costs yourself. We will send you an exchange free of charge.
Please note: there are some countries outside the EU that will sometimes raise extra duties and taxes. Of course we do our best to avoid this, but in the end it is the local authorities who decide about whether you have to pay extra or not. Every country and every customs official is different.
These duties are paid to the government, so unfortunately we cannot refund them. Exchanges should be exempt from duty, but unfortunately we cannot guarantee this. Also, if you did not have to pay for previous orders, that does not mean that there won't be any duties in the future. There is always a possibility you will be billed by your local authorities before your parcel is delivered.

You have 30 days, counting from the day you received the shoes. Within this term you can return the shoes if:
- you did not wear them outside;
- the shoes do not show any signs of wear;
- all tags and accessories are still there;
- you return them in the original shoe box, with an extra box around it so the actual shoe box stays clean and undamaged.
No. There are some countries outside the EU, UK and USA that will sometimes raise extra duties and taxes. Countries known to do this sometimes include Australia, Canada, Chile, Israel, Japan, Mexico, Russia, Singapore, South Korea, and Thailand. Of course we do our best to avoid this, but in the end it is the local authorities who decide about whether you have to pay extra or not. Every country and every customs official is different.
The USA will raise taxes on orders of $800.00 and more.

We understand how unpredictable and unreliable that sounds, but there is nothing we can do to change it.

- you put off your shoes without untying the laces;
- you use your shoes for things they are not meant for, such as extreme sports and occupations where you need heat resistant shoes;
- the problems come from an abnormality in your way of walking that cause your soles to wear out in an asymmetric way.
